Human Rights Education

Hardwired’s Professional Development programs are nurturing a respect for the dignity and freedom of others through education.  We partner with educators to bring the message of pluralism and human rights to life for students through training to (1) develop lessons and curricula, (2) teach children to respect a diversity of opinions and beliefs, and (3) support their efforts in the classroom to promote peace and pluralism.

Through the program, educators are prepared to understand and overcome challenges to pluralism; develop skills to encourage critical thinking and facilitate dialogue and the open expression of diverse ideas in the classroom; build a culture of respect for the rights of others that respects the ability to share different opinions and expressions; and more effectively evaluate student learning.

Through a rights-based education program, students develop greater empathy toward others and become better equipped to dialogue with one another and mitigate conflict.  They are more likely to engage with people who have different beliefs and defend their right to believe differently.  They are also more supportive of the equal participation of girls and members of minority communities in the classroom.
