Advancing Human Rights For All Worldwide

DONATE NOW

Hardwired brings the highest level of human rights training to help leaders embed a culture of respect for the rights and freedoms of people of all beliefs in classrooms, communities, and legal systems in diverse social, political, and religious contexts. Hardwired’s training videos, in person and online training course, freedom guidebooks, and research provide those trained additional support to help communities better understand their rights and how to protect them.

Hardwired's programs are tailored to meet the needs of three unique audiences - educators, community leaders (religious, media, and civil society), and lawyers or policymakers.  For more information about each area, please visit "Our Program" page.  During the training, and depending on the training focus, participants will take part in activities focused on developing the following skills:

  • Increase understanding of universal human rights and religious freedom in laws and education systems
  • Understand "pluralism" and how to actively engage with people from different backgrounds and beliefs
  • Recognize one's own perspective about human rights and religious freedom for oneself and for others
  • Reconcile international human rights concepts with one's own conceptual framework for these rights
  • Develop language for articulating the benefits of pluralism, religious freedom, and related human rights
  • Create curriculum, media, laws and policies to promote pluralism and respect for the rights of others
  • Train others how to promote pluralism and respect for religious freedom in their fields of influence
  • Build networks that can articulate and support one another in strengthening pluralism and religious freedom
  • Evaluate the impact of their training on others' perceptions and behavior related to these rights
  • Address challenges to diversity, inclusion, and pluralism in the classroom, community, and legal system

Hardwired's training includes participation in a unique simulation that allows participants an opportunity to experience a model of pluralism in a fictitious culture to develop a deeper understanding of the important concepts essential for pluralism to flourish.  The simulation creates a different perspective of pluralism and human rights that participants find useful in becoming more critical in how they think about their own communities and creative in how to address the challenges to pluralism within their own communities.  Hardwired's training does not address specific religious beliefs or ideas, but rather general concepts such as equality, non-discrimination, human dignity, freedom of conscience, and freedom of speech and expression.  Participants develop an understanding of concepts that affect the rights of all people and discover how to protect these rights for others in a diverse society, especially when they disagree.

Hardwired's programs have been proven to have many significant benefits on communities - from strengthening individual rights and respect for religious freedom, freedom of speech and expression, equality and non-discrimination, to changing how communities engage with and treat one another in a way that models greater respect and dignity for one another.  We have witnessed improvement in protection of girls and minority communities,  greater diversity and inclusion of others throughout society and its institutions, a reduction in violence and bullying of minority groups, and greater dialogue and public discussion of how to protect the rights of vulnerable groups.  Communities are becoming safer as leaders arise to stand together for the dignity and freedom of others.
